- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic until beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, and parsley.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over sauce. Spread with one-third of the ricotta mixture. Top with one-third of the meat sauce. Repeat layers twice more, ending with a layer of meat sauce.
- Sprinkle remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
- Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
